Enchanting is one of the primary professions in Warcraft, and like all crafting professions it can be a long slog to master it and reach level 525 and Illustrious.
The staple of Enchanting is actually to destroy enchanted weapons and armour. This is called “disenchanting” and results in materials that you then use to level your professions.
This is enough to put some people off the idea of enchanting altogether. After all, finding these items is something that players strive to do. I can seem hard to then destroy them to level a profession.
There is an upside to this vandalism though. The ingredients that these items disenchant into are often worth more than the items themselves. As Warcraft has matured, many lower level greens and blues do not fetch much at auction, so disenchanting them to sell can actually be a benefit.
Also, serious players at level cap look to have the very best enchants for their characters in every possible slot. This will also be the case with Enchanting 525 Illustrious
So while this may be an expensive profession to level, it will reap massive rewards once you are done.
It is nice to have two options with your low level loot, but beware there is one huge drawback that will cripple characters who are not wealthy.
The enchanters tool or “rod” costs an almost obscene amount. Once you reach level 450 it is quite possible that you have spent more on it that your epic flying training and your whole equipment set put together.
The reason for this is, at each level of advancement, the enchanters tool or “rod” needs upgrading. From a simple copper tube to begin with, to a Titanium based rod with some very expensive reagents in by the time you reach level 450. Each upgrade also requires that the previous rod is “destroyed” in the process, meaning that by the time you max out this profession you may have spent around 10,000g gold on the rod alone. How much will the Enchanting 525 Illustrious rod cost?
Having said that, with upper end enchants fetching perhaps 500 to 1000 gold each, then you should be able to rake this back.
