This gold farming guide is meant to provide you with a list of ideal locations to pursue your gold farming, according to character level.
There is a common misconception that gold farming is best pursued by high level characters, but this is not true. While the gold earned per hour may be highest for level 80 characters, many low level characters often find themselves in serious need of gold. That is why gold farming makes sense for characters of all levels, and is a sensible activity to engage in to take a break from regular game play and acquire some much needed gold.
Listed below are some popular gold farming spots.
Character Levels 12 – 20
Westfall – Coordinates: 32, 33 – Target the Defias Trappers here. They drop linen cloth and respawn as fast as you can kill them. Sell the cloth at auction houses. Depending on the server you can get as much as 1g per stack.
Herbalism, Skinning and Mining – It doesn’t matter if your character is not a good fit for these professions. Pick them up anyway, as these professions will make you the most gold at lower levels. A good way to make gold with these professions is to go through Elwynn Forest, and pick up all the herbs and mine all the copper you can find. After a good hour, you should be able to sell what you collected at the auction houses and make some good gold.
Levels 40 – 60
Stranglethorn Vale – Coordinates: 44, 45 – Go to Crystalvein Mines and take down the mobs there. The drops are generally quite good and can be sold to vendors.
Tanaris – Coordinates: 72, 44 – Lost Rigger Cove is a place with lots of pirates you can kill for some nice drops and lots of mageweave and silk.
Player Levels 60 – 80
Winterspring – Coordinates: Around 52, 43 – The mobs near the lake drop decent silver and items you can sell.
Felwood – Coordinates: Around 41, 20 – Go to Jadefire Run, where you will find lots of mobs. The main source of gold here is the runecloth they drop, which can be sold for some good gold.
Eastern Plaguelands – Coordinates: Around 28, 85 – Kill the Mossflayer Zombies. They can be taken down pretty quickly, and the runecloth they drop sells well at the auction houses.
